1、我不想走回家  I didn’t want to walk home

Tom is a very old man. After dinner, he likes walking in the street. And he goes to bed at s even o’clock. 

汤姆是一位老人，他喜欢在晚饭后到大街上散步，在7点回来睡觉。 

But tonight, a car stopped at his house. A policeman helps him get out. He tells Tom’s wif e, “The old man couldn’t find his way in the street. He asked me to take him in the car.” 

但是，今天晚上一辆小汽车停在他家门前，汤姆在一位警察的帮助下走下汽车。警察告诉汤姆的妻子： “这位老人在街上迷路了，他让我用汽车送他回来。” 

After the policeman leaves there, his wife asks, “Tom, you go to the street every night. Bu t tonight you can’t find the way, what’s the matter?”

The old man smiles like a child and says, “I couldn’t find my way? I didn’t want to walk home.“

2、乌龟与兔子 The Tortoise and the Hare

The Hare was once boasting of his speed before other animals. "I have never been beaten," said he, "when I put forth my full speed. I challenge any one here to race with me."

从前有一只兔子，他在其它动物面前吹嘘自己跑得是如何如何的快。“当我全速奔跑的时候，我从来没有被打败过，”他说，“谁敢跟我比一比？”

The Tortoise said quietly, "I accept your challenge."

“我来跟你跑一场”，一只乌龟沉着地说。

"That is a good joke," said the Hare; "I could dance round you all the way."

“快笑死我了，” 兔子说，“我一边跑一边围着你跳舞都能赢你”。

"Keep your boasting till you've won," answered the Tortoise. "Shall we race?"

“你跑赢了再吹牛吧”，乌龟说，“我们可以开始比赛了吗？”

So a course was fixed and a start was made. The Hare darted almost out of sight at once, but soon stopped and, to show his contempt for the Tortoise, lay down to have a nap. The Tortoise plodded on and plodded on, and when the Hare awoke from his nap, he saw the Tortoise just near the winning-post and could not run up in time to save the race.

3、狼来了 Wolves are coming

Some time ago, a child was herding sheep on the mountain.

从前，有个孩子在山上放羊。

He saw many people were doing work at the bottom of the mountain, and wanted to prank them. So he purposely yelled: "Wolves are coming! Wolves are coming!"

他看到很多人在山下干活儿， 想捉弄一下别人， 就故意大声喊叫：" 狼来了！ 狼来了！"

The people heard, and ran up the mountain.

山下的人听到喊叫声，立刻跑上山来。

But, there were no wolves. The child was lying. People were tricked.

可是， 山上根本没有狼， 是放羊的孩子在撒谎，人们被他欺骗了。

A few days later, people heard the child yell again: "Wolves are coming! Wolves are coming!"

过了几天，人们又听见这个孩子在山上喊："狼来了！狼来了！"

Everyone ran up the mountain again, but they didn't see wolves. Everyone were tricked by the child again.

大家又跑到山上去，结果还是没有狼，人们又被撒谎的孩子欺骗了。

A few days later, wolves really came.

又过了几天，狼真的来了。

The child yelled again: "Wolves are coming! Wolves are coming! Wolves really are coming!"

这个孩子又喊："狼来了！狼来了！狼真的来了！"

Everyone heard him, but no one did anything.

山下的人们听见喊声， 但是再也没有人理他了。

4、千镜之屋 The House of 1000 Mirrors 

Long ago in a small, faraway village, there was aplace known as the House of 1000 Mirrors.

很久以前的一个很远的小村庄里，有一个以“千镜屋”而著名的地方。

A small, happy little dog learned of this place anddecided to visit. When he arrived, he hounced happilyup the stairs to the doorway of the house.

一个乐观的小狗听说了这个地方并决定去参观。当来到这个地方，他蹦蹦跳欢恰快的上了台阶，来到房门口。

He looked through the doorway with his ears lifted high and his tail wagging as fast as it could.

他高高竖起耳朵，欢快地摇着尾巴，从门口往里张望，

To his great surprise, he found himself staring at 1000 other happy little dogs with their tailswagging just as fast as his.

他惊奇地看到有1000只欢乐的小狗像他一样快的摇尾巴。

He smiled a great smile, and was answered with 1000 great smiles just as warm and firendly.

他灿烂地微笑着，回报他的是 1000张热情，友好的灿烂笑脸。

As he left the House, he thought to himself, "This is a wonderful place. I will come back and visitit often."

离开时他心想："这是一个精彩的地主，我一定要经常来参观。"

In this same village, another little dog, who was not quite as happy as the first one, decided tovisit the house.

在这个村里还有另一只想参观"千镜屋"的小狗，他不及第一只小狗乐观。

He slowly climbed the stairs and hung his head low as he looked into the door.

他慢吞吞地爬上台阶，然后耷拉着脑袋往屋子里看。

When he saw the 1000 unfriendly looking dogs staring back at him, he growled at them andwas horrified to see 1000 little dogs growling back at him.

一看到有1000只小狗不友好地盯着他，他便开始冲他们狂吠，镜中的1000只小狗也冲着他狂吠。

As he left, he thought to himself, "That is a horrible place, and I will never go back there again."

5、狼和七只小山羊 The wolf and the seven little kids

One day, the weather was really good. The mother lamb was about to cut grass. Right be-fore leaving, the mother lamb told her seven baby lambs:Do not open the door carelessly, be careful of the big wolf.

有一天，天气真好，羊妈妈要出去割青草。临走前，羊妈妈告诉七个宝宝：别随便开门，小心大狼。

As soon as the mother lamb left, the big wolf came. As he knocked at the door, he tried to sing like the mother lamb.

羊妈妈刚走，大狼就来了。他一边敲门，一边学羊妈妈唱歌。

As soon as the baby lambs heard the coarse voice, they knew that it was the big wolf." We won't open the door! You are not our mother at all."

一听这粗嗓门儿，小羊们就知道是大狼。“不开！你根本不是我们的妈妈。”

After a while,the big wolf came back and knocked at the door again. This time, he used a soft and sweet voice to sing.

过了一会儿，大狼又来敲门。这回，他用又细又甜的声音唱。

The lambs thought it was their mother, and opened the door. The big wolf broke into the house and ate six lambs.

小羊们以为是妈妈，就打开了门。大狼闯进屋，吃掉了六只小羊。

The big wolf was full and lay down under a tree and took a nap "Zzzzz ... Zzzz".

大狼吃饱了，躺在树下“呼噜呼噜”睡大觉。

The mother lamb came home. The youngest baby lamb came over and said:"My brothers and sisters were all eaten by the big wolf."

羊妈妈回来了。最小的羊宝宝跑过来，说：“哥哥姐姐们都被大狼吃了。”

The mother lamb found the big wolf and cut the wolf's stomach with a pair of scissors-the six lambs jumped out.

羊妈妈找到大狼，用剪刀剪开了狼肚子——六只小羊从里面跳了出来。

Some baby lambs used a trolley to pull a lot of big stones,some baby lambs rolled big stones from a long distance.They put the big stones in the stomach of the wolf. The mother lamb sewed the wolf's stomach.

有的小羊用小车拉来许多大石头，有的小羊从远处滚来大石头，他们把大石头都放进狼肚子里。羊妈妈把狼肚子缝起来。

With a stomach filled with stones, when the big wolf walked he jingled. Never again will he be able to catch the baby lambs.

肚子里装满石头，大狼走起路来叮叮当当，他再也追不上小羊了。
